  • Nonobstructive bowel gas pattern with a moderate volume of stool in the ascending colon

Diagnosis

Sample Report

Large soft tissue density in the left hemiabdomen with rightward displacement of multiple bowel loops. Recommend ultrasound for further evaluation.

Nonobstructive bowel gas pattern with a moderate volume of stool in the ascending colon.

Discussion

  • Get used to locating the normal position of bowel loops and intraabdominal organs so that you can detect mass effect when it is present
  • This patient did not have a known mass prior to this study
  • Followup ultrasound confirmed renal origin with Wilms tumor diagnosed after surgical resection
