Findings

  • Enteric tube tip overlies the gastric cardia
  • Cystic structure in the right mid lung and right lung base
  • Diffuse groundglass opacification throughout the left lung and in the right upper lung
  • No pleural effusion or pneumothorax
  • Normal size and configuration of the cardiothymic silhouette

Diagnosis

  • Congenital pulmonary airway malformation (CPAM)

Sample Report

Enteric tube tip overlies the gastric cardia.

Cystic structure in the right mid lung and right lung base, which may represent a congenital pulmonary airway malformation (CPAM). Recommend chest CT for further evaluation.

Diffuse groundglass opacification throughout the left lung and in the right upper lung, which may relate to volume loss or edema.

No pleural effusion or pneumothorax.

Normal size and configuration of the cardiothymic silhouette.

Discussion

  • Congenital lung masses need further evaluation with cross-sectional imaging
  • The macrocystic appearance of this mass is typical for a type 1 CPAM
